19th Workshop on Advances in Strategic Communication gets off to a start

The nineteenth workshop on Advances in Strategic Communication was formally opened on March 2, 2014 at BCCP. The Honorable Secretary Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Mr. M. M. Neazuddin was present as Chief Guest and inaugurated the workshop. Ms. Melissa Jones, Director, OPHNE, USAID was present as Special Guest. Mohammad Shahjahan, Director and CEO of BCCP delivered welcome remarks and narrated a brief history of Advances Workshop and its benefits to the communication professionals working in health and social development sectors. The participants from Government, NGO & media organizations whose programs include BCC components are attending this workshop. 
 
Modeled after the leadership in strategic health communication workshop of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health/Center for Communication Programs (JHU•CCP) and designed for selected group of program managers and others concerned, this workshop provides, through review of the latest findings in strategic communication, an opportunity to enhance Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) understanding, knowledge and skills.
 
Notable among the topics in two week workshop are strategic thinking; listen to the audience; behavior change; advocacy; social mobilization; use of media leverage; use of social media platforms; communication strategy design through SCOPE (Strategic Communication Planning and Evaluation); following P-process; knowledge management; enter-educate approach; evaluation design. The workshop uses a highly participatory approach and is aimed at strengthening skills of professional concerned with implementation, management and supervision of BCC activities.
